David is a Senior at Appalachian State University studying Electronic Media / Broadcasting. With experience in many different fields, he serves a lead student photographer for the App State Athletic Department, the Sports Director at 90.5 WASU, and is an award winning journalist for Appalachian Weekly News.
David has worked as a Photographer for the App State Athletic Department for over two years, providing coverage for all 16 NCAA sports. This includes game action, practices, formal events, and studio work. For the past two football seasons he has served as the primary travel photographer, capturing every moment for App State Football on the road. His work has been featured on ESPN, CBS Sports, Ridell Sports, NCAA Basketball, and other major media outlets. Alongside his photography, David assists other student photographers with their craft and helps with workshops to grow the knowledge and skill of his peers.
With over 6 years of experience on air, David has honed his craft in sports broadcasting, television broadcasting, podcasting, and reporting. Recently, He won two international awards for TV news features produced in in 2024.
David has worked at Appalachian State University’s student radio station 90.5 WASU for almost 3 years. As the current Sports Director, he manages a team of 15 student interns and has helped broadcast 7 different sports throughout the 2024-2025 school year. Alongside sports broadcasting, he hosts a weekly sports show revolving around professional and App State Sports. He also has worked as play-by-play talent for the HoopState Network, Phenom Hoops, NFHS Network, i85 Sports, FloSports, and FloRacing.
David serves as the Coordinating Producer of Appalachian Weekly News (AWN) and has worked on multiple other shows on AppTV. Throughout his time at AppTV, he has gained experience as a reporter, on air talent, interviewer, writer, editor, and producer. In his time with AWN, David has been a part of multiple live shows, pre-recorded specialty shows, and news briefs.
